The Story
Singita Sabora Tented Camp sits in the Grumeti Game Reserve, part of the wider Serengeti ecosystem that Singita has managed for conservation and hospitality since 2006. Nine Bedouin-style canvas tents are built around a 1920s safari theme — mahogany travel chests, Persian rugs, Maasai blankets, vintage cars, and campaign furniture — set at eye level with grazing herds just outside. The camp sits in the path of the Great Migration, when close to two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle move through Grumeti and the Serengeti, alongside some of the largest buffalo and elephant herds found anywhere in Africa.
This shoot moves between the tents themselves and the game drives — a different discipline from hotel photography, working with moving light, moving animals, and dust instead of a controlled interior. The trip was arranged with DM Africa and SmartFlyer, whose planning made it possible to be in position for both the camp's golden-hour interiors and the migration itself.
